The demand for a Karnataka Regiment in the Indian Army has been a longstanding aspiration
among many Kannadigas. This is not merely a call for recognition but a rallying cry to honor a
legacy steeped in valor and sacrifice. Imagine a regiment headquartered in the rugged terrains
of Chamarajanagar, drawing strength from the rich cultural tapestry and military traditions of
Karnataka. Such a regiment would stand as a beacon of pride and a testament to the unity of
our nation. 

Karnataka’s mountainous jungles, particularly in Chamarajanagar, are a mirror to the challenges
of the Pir Panjal range in Jammu and Kashmir, where our soldiers face adversities daily. The
tribals of this region, such as the Soligas, embody survival skills honed through generations.
Their knowledge of the dense forests and ability to navigate difficult terrains could transform
them into formidable jungle warriors for our nation. Chamarajanagar, with its dense forests and
tribal communities, is not just a geographical location—it is a treasure trove of untapped
potential waiting to be harnessed for national defense. 

Let us not overlook the enduring spirit of the people from the Western Ghats. Stretching across
Kodagu, Shivamogga, and Chikkamagaluru, these hills cradle resilient communities who have
long been accustomed to the rigors of challenging terrains. Kodagu alone, known as the “Land
of Warriors,” has given India illustrious figures like Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa and General K.
S. Thimayya. Imagine the surge of pride and resurgence of tradition if these lands are given the
honor of housing a regiment that carries their legacy forward. The youth, inspired by their
