The G-20 summit, which was successfully held in Srinagar earlier this year, has elevated Kashmir’s profile as a tourist destination. From all around India, Kashmir is quickly becoming the top destination for tourists. Currently, tourists from the North-East are also preferring to visit Kashmir. An estimation based on data from the Department of Tourism and private tour operators indicates that in 2022, roughly 25,000 visitors came from Assam and other regions of the North-East to visit Kashmir. In the last six months of 2023, the number of tourists from the region will be increasing rapidly. According to a survey, if all goes well, by the end of 2023, more than 30,000 tourists from the North East will visit Kashmir.
