12 new DNB seats are approved for J&K

Towards developing the state of J&K’s public healthcare system, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Science (NBEMS) has authorised twelve more seats under the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) for J&K public institutions. These seats would be in addition to the 270 DNB seats that had already been given.

While JLNM Hospital Srinagar received approval for two orthopaedics seats, Government Medical College Rajouri received approval for two paediatrics seats, District Hospital (DH) Poonch received approval for two surgical seats, DH Reasi received approval for two general medicine seats, and Department of Anesthesiology GMC Baramulla received accreditation for beginning DNB courses with an intake of four PGs, two primary DNB seats, and two secondary DNB seats each year.
During sharing specifics about the development, Ayushi Sudan, Mission Director, NHM J&K, stated that J&K’s implementation of DNB courses at the district level has been referred to as a best practice’s in the nation. In addition to the coordinated efforts and dedication of the administrative departments of H&ME J&K, NHM J&K, and the team of health institutions under the supervision of Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, a total of 270 seats under the DNB programme in the UT were awarded to the accredited departments during the sessions of 2022 and the beginning of 2023.
