Kashmiri Muslim Families of Martyrs Honored for Securing India

Call it the country’s misfortune or bad luck that the Kashmiris who joined the army, paramilitary forces, and police to serve the nation and sacrificed their lives for its security, remained unknown to people in states outside Kashmir

On June 1, a historic event was organized in Handwara town of Kupwara district, where the women of these martyred families were honored, and an appeal was made to the government to build a memorial in memory of those martyrs.

This event was organized by a Punjab-based organization, the ‘Khaki Association‘, where women from a total of 53 martyred families were honored. District Superintendent Shrikant Balasaheb, Sessions Judge Zeeshan Khan, renowned journalist Fida Firdous, and other prominent members of society were also present at the event. The main coordination and organization of the program were led by Mrs. Annu Pasricha, President of the Khaki Association, and all the families present appreciated her efforts. This was the first event of its kind where the martyrdom of the people of Kashmir was remembered and their families were honored.

The atmosphere of the program became deeply emotional when tears welled up in the eyes of the women from the martyred families.

During the program, Mrs. Annu shared that her organization will carry the stories of these sacrifices made by the people of the Jhelum Valley all the way to Kanyakumari, so that people across the country become aware of this aspect of Kashmir and people from all states honor it.

Annu ji mentioned that the program was named “Veer Nari Samman“, and its slogan is highly inspiring: “The Jhelum of India and the India of Jhelum“. With this beautiful and inspiring sentiment, this event has compelled the country’s intellectuals and policymakers to study this aspect of the Valley. It has also introduced the new generation of Kashmir to their ideal heroes, of whom every Kashmiri is proud. They continue to walk on this very path, and the entire nation salutes these families, especially those mothers who are raising such patriots.
